Kathmandu, May 18 (RSS). A new variant of COVID-19 has been identified in the country today. According to the joint spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population Dr Samir Mani Adhikari, the new variant was identified while conducting sample test in different parts of the country.
With this, three kinds of variants have been recorded so far in Nepal. Thirty five samples were tested in the coordination with WHO at the CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrated Biology, India and new variant B. 1617.2 was recorded.
Dr Adhikari shared that the new variant is highly infectious and alarming to all age groups. This is the same variant identified in India recently.
